Fields: build recipes and verified sources
Six fields where open tools and public data let you build something real today. Every recipe is written by BSV, every source is an official page we checked.
- Healthcare & Medical RoboticsBuild simulation and data-handling exercises with open tools: MuJoCo probe positioning, SOFA indentation, DICOM/FHIR hygiene, OpenFDA and ClinicalTrials.gov discovery, plus 3D models from public sample scans. Research and education only.
- RoboticsBuild short, honest simulation drills: MuJoCo energy, planar IK, trajectory resample, DH FK, Jacobian/manipulability, cubic paths, SE(3) relatives and a toy 2D RRT. For Isaac Teleop practice, use Robot Pilot Academy below — BSV does not redistribute NVIDIA code.
- DataPractice everyday data hygiene with small scripts: profile and schema-diff CSVs, flatten JSON Lines, load SQLite, then pull World Bank, weather, FX or USGS quake feeds. Synthetic practice files stay labeled; live API numbers come from the named public source.
- SpaceTurn NASA, NOAA, CelesTrak and Copernicus data into everyday practice: NEO briefs, ISS now, sunrise/sunset, Julian Day, toy ground tracks, satellite passes, Sentinel-2 scene finding, Kp and X-ray space-weather logs, GP group snapshots, SBDB lookups and ISS track samples. Research and education only.
- BiotechScreen known actives with RDKit, check AlphaFold confidence, profile UniProt sequences, digest PubMed, then pull PubChem, MyGene, PDBe and STRING neighbors — public APIs only, research/education, no pathogen protocols.
- QuantumShort laptop projects that check themselves: H2 VQE, Bell noise, Grover, QAOA, Deutsch–Jozsa, GHZ, teleportation, RX⟨Z⟩, Bernstein–Vazirani, swap-test overlap, 3-qubit QFT and Ising ZZ — simulators only.
